Typewriter pull-up
An advanced pull-up variation where at the top of each rep you shift laterally from side to side along the bar. It builds unilateral pulling strength and is a key progression toward one-arm pull-ups.

How to Perform
- Grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder-width.
- Pull yourself up until your chin clears the bar.
- At the top, shift your bodyweight to one side, keeping that arm bent while extending the other arm.
- Shift back through center and to the other side.
- Lower with control and repeat.
Common Mistakes
- Not fully extending the opposite arm when shifting, reducing the unilateral load.
- Using momentum to swing into the lateral position.
- Losing shoulder stability during the lateral shift.
