Diamond push-ups

A push-up variation where the hands form a diamond shape under the chest, dramatically increasing tricep engagement and making this one of the most effective tricep exercises without equipment.

How to Perform

  1. Place your hands under your chest with thumbs and index fingers touching to form a diamond shape.
  2. Extend into a plank position with a straight body line.
  3. Lower your chest toward your hands, keeping elbows pointing slightly back and outward.
  4. Lower until your chest nearly touches your hands.
  5. Press back up to full arm extension.

Common Mistakes

  • Letting elbows flare out wide, turning it into a regular push-up.
  • Placing hands too low on the sternum, causing wrist discomfort.
  • Hips rising as fatigue sets in.
